FC6 MOLES 3 Flashcards
how to work out concentration
mol/vol -> concentration
volume of gas equation at RTP
mol x 24 -> volume (dm3)
ideal gas equation
pV=nRT
units for ideal gas equation
p = pressure in Pa. V = volume in m3 (dm3/1000) (cm3/1000000). T = temperature in Kelvin. R = 8.314. n = moles
how to convert degrees celsius to kelvin
temp in degrees celsius + 273
how to convert from mol/dm3 to g/dm3

6 steps of making a standard solution of 250cm3, 0.50mol dm-3 of NaOH
1 - weigh an empty weighing boat using a 2dp balance then add 5.00g of NaOH. 2 - transfer solid into a 250cm3 beaker and add minimum amount of distilled water to dissolve completely using a stirring rod 3 - using a filter funnel, transfer solution to 250cm3 volumetric flask 4 - rinse the beaker, stirring rod, funnel with distilled water and add washings to volumetric flask 5 - add distilled water to mark up to 250cm3 mark (bottom of meniscus) 6 - add stopper and mix thoroughly
