Fault Detection
Identify that a problem has occurred
Fault Diagnosis
Identify the piece of hardware or software at fault
POST = Power On Self Test
Appears before the operating system begins to run
Will display any problem found within the hardware
Original post used beeps as information
BIOS = Basic Input/Output System
POST is one of the four main functions of the BIOS
BIOS sits on the ROM
1)Loaded with BIOS
2)If ant fatal errors/problems, stops the PC from loading, and a beep is made
3) Error message displays if error found after BIOS has loaded

Troubleshooting Tool
Allows to see all hardware, see if there’s a problem, if so then a little yellow triangle will appear
Task Manager
Tells you what processes are active
Can force a programmer to end
Shows what programmers are using computer resources at the time
Update Manager
Tells you when you need to update something e.g. a game, an app, the PC
