Captured on 20 April 1861 by Confederate forces. Sunk by the Confederates when they abandoned Norfolk in 1862; raised later that year by the US government. Broken up in 1865.

A

In 1853 the original 1797 ship was broken up in Gosport, Va.; pieces of the original were used to make the sloop of war that now sits in Baltimore Harbor.

Chesapeake

A

Captured by HMS Shannon on 1 June 1813. She was towed to Halifax and served in the Royal Navy until finally sold at Portsmouth, England and broken up; the lumber from the ship was used to make a flour mill that stands to this day.

Captured in 1815 by a British squadron and taken into the Royal Navy. Used until she was carefully taken apart and reverse engineered by the British in 1817.
