Q

ABU BAKR AL-SIDDIQ (R): What was the first speech he gave upon becoming Khalifa?

A

“O people, I have been appointed over you, though I am not the best of you.

If I do well, help me; and if do wrong, correct me.

Honesty is loyalty, and dishonesty is treachery.

The weak of you is strong by me, until I return to them what is theirs, insha Allah.

And the strong of you is weak by me, until I take from them what is not theirs, insha Allah.

No group stops struggling for God, except disgrace comes from God.

And wrong does not become widespread, except God places hardship ahead.

Obey me so long as I obey God and His Messenger. And disobey me if I disobey God and His Messenger.

Stand up now to pray, may God’s mercy come your way.

DUA HADITH ISTIKHARA

A

Dear Allah! I ask direction from Your knowledge, And Power from Your Might and I ask for Your great blessings. You are capable and I am not. You know and I do not, and You know the unseen. Dear Allah! If You know that this matter [STATE YOUR DECISION] is good for my religion and my life and my Afterlife, then make it happen for me and make it easy for me, and then bless me in it; and if You know that this matter is harmful to me in my religion and my life and my Afterlife, then keep it away from me and keep me away from it. And give me whatever is good for me wherever it is, and make me satisfied with it.

HADITH DUA: THE MASTER OF SEEKING FORGIVENESS

A

O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You.
You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can.

I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done.

I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have given me, and I acknowledge to You all my sins.

So please forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.
