means assuming the conclusion within the premises, so the argument goes in a circle.
Example: Lying is wrong because it is not right to lie.
what is strawman
misrepresents someone’s argument to make it easier to attack.
Example: Person A: We should have better education for children. Person B: My opponent wants to spend all our money on unimportant things.
what is red herring
distracts from the main issue by introducing an irrelevant topic.
Example: We should focus on the company’s profits. Speaking of profits, did you hear about the new restaurant that opened downtown?
