Q

How does the amount of light affect photosynthesis?

A
  • More light = faster rate of photosynthesis

- There is an optimum rate of photosynthesis (rate will continue to increase and level out at optimum)

Q

How does carbon dioxide concentration affect the rate of photosynthesis?

A
  • More CO2 = faster rate of photosynthesis

- Until optimum level is reached, rate will increase but begin to level out at optimum level

Q

How does temperature affect the rate of photosynthesis?

A
  • Higher temperature = higher rate of photosynthesis
  • Graph is shaped like a triangle
  • Rate of photosynthesis will DECREASE after around 45 degrees Celsius is reached - enzymes in chlorophyll are destroyed

Q

Do root hair cells contain chlorophyll? Why/why not?

A

No

Their function is to absorb nutrients and minerals from 5he soil, not to photosynthesise (no chloroplasts)
