Direct conflict was seen between Paget and Gardiner when Paget blocked Gardiner’s attempt to reinstall heresy laws in 1554. Months later a very similar bill was passed, which was supported by Paget. This would suggest that it was not the content of the legislation which Paget opposed, but the involvement of Gardiner.
