Facilitated diffusion factors Flashcards
Why does the concentration gradient across the exchange surface
The greater the difference in concentration on either side of the exchange surface. The higher the rate of facilitated diffusion up to a point depending on number of channel and carrier protein available
How does the number of channel or carrier proteins available in carrier proteins affect facilitated diffusion
Facilitated diffusion depends on using channel and carrier proteins. Once all channel proteins are used the rate of facilitated diffusion of a particular molecule cant increase.
This means the number of carrier or channel proteins available in a exchange surface, the higher the rate of facilitated diffusion
