Q

How to record a facebow registration?

A
  • mark the anterior reference point on the right side using the reference plane locator and marker
  • Apply the bite registration paste to the bitefork (check it is parallel to the patient horizontal and coronal planes)
  • The bitefork should be aligned with the dental midline
  • Assemble the earbow and the transfer jig

Q

How would you put the position in the pointer?

A
  • it should align precisely with the anterior reference point
    after that tighten the clamps

Q

Where is the anterior reference point?

A
  • on the patient right side 43mm apical to the incisal edge of the anterior teeth (12 ideally)
  • it is approximately the location of the infraorbital foramen

Q

What are you recording with the facebow ?

A
  • the relationship of the maxilla to the hinge axis of rotation of the mandible to mount the maxillary cast in an equivalent relationship on the articulator

Q

Why are you using facebow in this case?

A

I used the face bow registration in RCP to get the patieint occlusion reproducible on a cast
- because we are constructing several indirect restorations
- and restoring the canine guidance which will slightly increase the OVD
- also to keep up with the patient high aesthetic demands by doing the composite buildups precisely by a vacuum stent
- also the canines debonded on several occasions and the face-bow will allow us to examine the occlusion
- to ensure that restorations made are comfortable with patient mandibular movements

Q

How would you take the impression in RCP ? (interocclusal)

A
  • the patient is guided into a terminal hinge closure to detect where initial tooth contact occurs(RCP)
  • this is bimanual manipulation or by chin point guidance (guiding the patient chin)
  • the RCP record is taken at a slightly increased OVD, just before initial tooth contact

Q

What is the relationship between RCP and ICP?

A
  • The RCP is usually infero-posterior to ICP by 0.5-2mm

Q

Why restore canine guidance?

A
  • because veneers keep coming off because the patient is in group function which contribute to her toothwear on the lower anteriors , she also does not know how to guide her bite

Q

Why are you achieving by the canine guidance?

A

-To produce a mutually protected occlusion
- it will lead to stability while chewing
- smoother mandibular movements

A
  • it is used to adjust the facebow horizontally
17
Q

What is he function of the transfer jig?

A

fixes the bite fork to the articulator so the casts can be mounted
