F4 B2 Flashcards
What is the definition of cell?
A basic unit of life
What is protoplasm made of?
Cytoplasm and nucleus
What is the functions of mitochondria?
Generate energy
What is the function of chloroplast?
- Absorbs sunlight
- for photosynthesis
Differences of plant and animal cell?
- P has fixed shape while A does not have fixed shape
- P has cell wall while A dont have a cell wall
- P have chloroplast while A dont have chloroplast
Similarities of plant and animal cell?
Both have
- nucleus
- cytoplasm
- plasma membrane
- golgi apparatus
- mitochondrion
- endoplasmic reticulum
- ribosomes
What is the definitions of unicellular organisms?
Organisms that made up of one cell
What is the definitions of tissue?
A group of cells that have the same structure and function and are arranged together to carry out a specific function
State the types of tissue
- Epithelial tissue
- Muscle tissue
( smooth,skeletal,cardiac ) - Nerve tissue
- Connective tissue
What is the function of xylem and phloem tissue?
Xylem
- transport water and mineral salts from root to other part of plant
Phloem
- transport organic substance ( sucrose ) from leaves to other part of plant
Why mitochondrion is needed in sperm cell?
- requires a lot of energy ti swim towards the uterus & fallopian tube
- fertilise secondary oocyte
Why mitochondrion is needed in muscle cells?
- requires a lot of energy to contract & relax
- enables movement
Why palisade mesophyll cell and spongy mesophyll cell contains chloroplast?
- absorbs more sunlight
- for photosynthesis
What will happen if mitochondrion disjunction?
- cause stunted growth
- weak muscles
- hearing and vision problems
What happen if enzymes fail to produce in lysosomes?
- cause Tay-Sachs disease
- experience stunted growth & mental retardation
