F4 Flashcards
What are the different phases in a LCA? Explain them
Goal and Scope, Inventory, Assessment, Review and interpretation
Goal and Scope Definition: Establishes the purpose, boundaries, and objectives of the study.
Inventory Analysis (LCI): Quantifies all inputs and outputs related to the product system.
Impact Assessment (LCIA): Evaluates the environmental impacts of the quantified data.
Review and Interpretation: Analyzes the results, provides conclusions, and recommends improvements.
What does circular approach mean?
The circular approach refers to a comprehensive system designed to maximize resource efficiency by minimizing waste, maintaining the value of products and materials, and regenerating natural systems. This approach contrasts with the traditional linear economy, which follows a “take-make-dispose” model, leading to significant resource depletion and environmental degradation.
What are some options to promote circular activities in construction?
- high grade products with high recycled content, materials white high durability used in structural elements
- Design for disassembly, design construction products so they are easy to separate into components that can be reused, reassembled, reconfigured and recycled.
- Material passports, sets of data describing defined characteristics of materials and components in building products
- Extension of construction service life. renovate, improve maintenance, upgrade, repair and adapt construction
- Selective demolition. Remove hazardous materials and increase source separation into high value, pure material fractions.
