F12 Hydro-treated-vegetable oil Flashcards
What is a diesel?
Can RME be blended into normal diesel in diesel cars?
Yes, it (FAME) can be blended into normal diesel up to 7%
What are potential feedstock-molecules for HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) production?
What are the requirements of Hydrotreatment of fatty acid to HVO? And what is it?
Hydrotreatment of fatty acids (two different ways)
Hydrotreatment of triglycerides (two different paths)
Name challenges with Hydrotreatment of fatty acids
Challenges and positives with HVO
- The density limits means that you can’t blend in to much of HVO into fossil diesel
- 100% HVO in diesel engine does not fulfil the standard criteria regarding the density → requires permit from vehicle manufacturer
- The could properties of HVO needs to be adjusted (otherwise it can clog the filters) → can be solved through isomerization! → the cloud point can be lowered.
- Excellent as a drop in diesel in Swedish standard Mk1 diesel
- Reduced GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions compared to fossil diesel
What is a triglyceride
From the tall oil to the car
Saker att utvärdera när man tar fram ny bioråvara
What are some of the challenges that needed to be handled in the Green Hydrotreatment project
Advantages with integration/co-processing
Advantages of using liquid fuel (HVO)
Main steps in HVO production process
Feedstock → Deoxygenation (hydrotreatment) → Separation (removing H2O, CO, CO2 and light hydrocarbons) → Isomerization (high pressure and H2) → product separation
