Sclera:
Light proof fibrous tissue.
Choroid:
Prevents internal reflection, supplies cells with oxygen and food, removes waste.
Retina:
Light sensitive layer, contains Rods and Cones.
Fovea (yellow spot):
Contains cones which work in bright light and gives us our sense of color.
Optic nerve:
Carries impulses to the brain.
Vitreous humor:
Jelly-like material which maintains the shape of the eye.
Ciliary muscle:
Involved in focusing.
Suspensory ligaments:
Involved in focusing.
Iris:
Control the amount of light entering the eye.
Pupil:
Hole in the iris which allows the light through.
Cornea:
Transparent front part of eye where the greatest amount of refraction (bending) of light occurs.
Lens:
Used to focus objects onto the retina.
Aqueous humor:
Maintains the shape of the eye.
Conjuctiva:
Protects the cornea.
