Eyes Flashcards
Define Iris
Coloured part of the eye
Define pupil
Opening in the centre of the iris
Retina
sensory tissue at the back of the eye
Lens
Focuses light onto to retina
Vitreous humour
Thick transparent liquid
Sclera
Outer tough membrane converging all of the eye ball
Optic nerve
Send electrical impulses from the retina to the brain
Cornea
Clear dome shaped protective tissue that is covering the pupil and iris
Steps when light enters our eyes
As light enters the cornea it is transmitted through the transparent layer. Light is than refracted through the lens so it focuses on the retina the vitreous humour is transparent so light transmits through it finally the light is absorbed by the cells in the retina
How have types of cell are in the retina
2 types
Rod cells (detect light and dark
Cone cells detect colour
Red rod cell
Green rod cell
Blue rod cell
(Primary colours of light)
Primary colours of light
Blue, green,red
Secondary Color’s
Magenta,cyan,yellow
