Eye Tracking Flashcards
Anatomy of eye
Optic disc blindspot- info from photo receptor cells sent, processed in brain
Fovea- dense cones, coloured vision
Iris- allows light into eye, contracts to protect
Cornea- protective layer, focussing of light
Lens- final part of processing
Outer retina- rods process light and dark
Central vision- process colour
Peripheral vision- process black and white
Blind spot- no rods/cones
Eye movements under differing task demands
Saccades- movement of eyes- most common types first stars, fixation then a saccades
Smooth pursuit- move eyes very steadily- type of tracking eye movement
Optokinetic nystagmus- flicking back of eyes to centre
Vestibular ocular reflex- eyes to be fixated on particular location, even with head movement mediated by cerebellum
Gognitive goals
scan paths alter depending on cognitive goals
Corneal reflection
Corneal reflection and beams combined give us an idea of where we are looking
