What 8 things must we do?
A
- sanitize hands
- Inspect the eye
- Snellen eye chart
- Finger wiggle test => look at visual fields
- H-test => extra-ocular movements
- Direct/indirect constriction of pupils and accommodation
- Fundosopic exam
- Cover and uncover test => strabismus

What to look for for eye inspection
A
- Have patient pull upper eyelids up and tell patient to look down.
- Have patient pull lower eyelids down and tell patient to look up
- Look for lesions, drooping, white scleras

Snellen eye chart
A
- Hold chart 14 inches away
- Test each eye individual, THEN TEST BOTH EYES AT THE SAME TIME.
- Ask them to read the smallest line they can read.
- The number on the side is their vision measurement

Finger wiggle test
A
• Assess both eyes at the same time
o Finger wiggle in EACH OF THE 4 QUADRANTS
• Close one eye
o In each quadrant, hold up a certain number of fingers and then ask them
oDo for each eye
•TELL PATIENT TO FOCUS ON A POINT BEHIND

H-test => extra-ocular movements
A
- Hold fingers about 12-18 inches away and move them in an H pattern.
- Tell patient to follow with eyes.
- Make sure to do convergence

Fundosopic exam
A
- Use RIGHT eye with fundoscopic in RIGHT hand to examine patients RIGHT eye and vise versa.
- Tell patient to look at a distant point in front of them.
- Doc should place hand on patients head to orient themselves.
- Start laterally and move in: tell patient to look directly at the light
- What do you see:, red reflex, arterioles, optic disk, macula and fovea.

Cover and uncover test for strabismus
A
• Look at my nose • Cover one eye • When I remove the cover, I am looking for any drifting of the COVERED eye. • Repeat on the other side
