Eye Exam Flashcards
What is used to asses visual acuity?
snellen char (6m)
hand held acuity card (33cm)
What can you check with the pinhole testing?
acuity problem d/t refractive error or not
-> pinhole only allows perpendicular light to lens (-> no bending req.)
if pinhole pos think about?
refractory problems
How does the red part of conjunctivitis differ to uveitis? + Keratitis?
conjunctivitus: redness more present in forniceal region (mehr außen)
uveitis: redness more present in corneal sclera junction (zum Auge hin)
Keratitis: mix of both
When pupils and iris are round and symmetric we call them? + if not we call them?
isocoric
if not:
miosis (pupils less than 2mm)
midriasis (pupils more than 7mm)
anisocoria (beide verschieden groß)
What are the four components of pupillary testing?
PERRLA (pupils equal, round, reactive to light, accomodation)
1. observing pupil shape, loc., & size
2. react. to light
3. swinging of flashlight test
4. pupillary reaction to near stimulus
Describe what happens in relative afferent pupillary defect?
affected eye: normal or constrict with light first -> normal eye does constrict -> back to the affected eye dilates now
What is done in the confrontation testing?
doctor tests pt eyes by comparing to his
Define red reflect + what to think if not present
assesses the light reflection of the ocular fundus
children: may indicate congenital cataracts or retinoblastoma
In adults: may be caused by cataracts or a detached retina
In case of copper wiring & arteriovenule nicking think of?
hypertensive retinopathy
** im slide stehr für copper wiring -> arteriosclerosis
