Hyperopia
light that enters the eye is focused behind the retina rather than on the retina, near objects blurry, far objects clear
Myopia
light that enters the eye is focused in front of the retina rather than on the retina, near objects clear, far objects blurry
Astigmatism
irregular focusing of light, caused by non-spherical cornea, some objects clear, some blurry
Presbyopia
inability of the internal lens to focus and refocus quickly, gradual loss of muscle elasticity, generally the result of aging
Nystagmus
involuntary, repetitive, rhythmic movements of eye(s)
Causes of Nystagmus
brain tumors, cerebrovascular lesions, alcohol use, drug abuse
Strabismus
failure of the eyes to look in the same direction at the same time
Causes of Strabismus
may be associated with amblyopia
