A
Acute angle closure glaucoma,
Anterior uveitis,
scleritis,
endophthalmitis

What are features of Acute angle closure glaucoma?
A
- severe pain (may be ocular or headache)
- decreased visual acuity,
- pt sees haloes
- semi-dilated pupil
- hazy cornea

What are features of anterior uveitis?
A
- acute onset pain
- small, fixed oval pupils with ciliary flush
- blurred vision and photophobia.

Features of Scleritis?
A
- severe pain (may be worse on movement) and tenderness
- Underlying autoimmune disease e.g. RA.

Features of endophthalmitis
A
- red eye
- pain
- visual loss
- following intra-ocular surgery.

What are features of central retinal vein occlusion?
A
- sudden painless loss of vision or reduction in vision, usually unilateral.
- severe retinal haemorrhage on fundoscopy.

What are the risk factors for central retinal vein occlusion?
A
- increasing age
- glaucoma
- polycythaemia

What’s the difference between scleritis and episcleritis?

Scleritis is painful, episcleritis isn’t.
