What are the 6 parts that make up the anatomy of a car?
A-post, B-post, C-post, Roof Rail, Fire Wall & Floor Rail
What are the 3 common propellants used SRS- Supplement Restraint Systems?
Argon, Nitrocellulose, & Sodium Azide with Potassium Nitrate
Warnings associated with SRS?
Air bags deploy less than 1/10th of second! Once deployed the canister can remain at temperatures up tp 600 degrees
What are the steps for dealing with Airbags on scene?
- Scan the vehicle for Air bag or symbols that could identify the location of airbag
- Disconnect the battery
- Maintain the 5-10-20 Rule ( 5” from the side impact bag, 10” from the driver side front impact bag, & 20” form passenger side front impact bag)
Purpose of the 5-10-20 Rule associated with Air Bags?
The latest generation of air bags is called dual-action air bags. These bags can initially deploy using only a portion of the available energy. These air bags can redeploy; thus the importance of the 5-10-20 Rule
What are the 6 hazardous conditions that determine scene safety?
Traffic Control Power lines Hazardous Cargo Spills or Leaks Unstable Vehicles Fire/Explosive Conditions
What is the purpose of vehicle stabilization?
Prevents any further movement of the vehicle without changing its original position
What are the “T”’s of advanced vehicle stabilization?
Tie Back - Requires that you connect a vehicle back to an anchor point to prevent further movement
Tie Down - Requires that you anchor a vehicle down to stable object to prevent further movement
Triangulate - Requires that you use a brace to form a triangle which widens the point of contact to prevent further movement
How is Advanced Vehicle Stabilization removed?
Stabilization should always be REMOVED in the opposite order as it was applied
