1. Pronator teres 2. Pronator quadratus origin- pronator teres has 2 heads- 1 humeral heads arises above the medial epicondyle from the common flexor tendon, the intermusclular septum and antebrachial fascia. 2 ulnar head arises from the medial side of the coronoid process of the ulna. quadratus arises from the medial aspect of the anterior surface of the distal 1/4 of the ulna insertion- pronator teres inserts midway along the lateral surface of the radius quadratus inserts into the distal 4th of the lateral border and anterior surface of the shaft of the radius Action- pronator teres rotates the radius on the uln and helps flex the forearm at the elbow quadratus pronates the hand- and is assited by the pronator teres when additional power is required innervation- both are innervated by the median nerve- pronator teres c6 c7 and quadratus c8 t1 \* pronator teres is quick and powerful pronation- quadratud is deep

1. Dorsal interosseous muscles origin- the 4 dorsal interosseous muscles are bipennate. 2 heads from adjacent sides of the metacarpal bones insertion- inserts into the base of the proximal phalanx and into the aponeurosis that forms the extensor expansion of digits 2-4 action- abducts the fingers from an imaginary line through the middle finger. Flex the fingers at the MCP joint and extends the 2 distal phalanges at the interphalangeal joints innervation- deep palmar branch of the ulnar nerve c8 and t1 \* the 1st dorsal int is the largest- “pinch” muscle- also used with the adducgtor pollicis for precision grip- they are not associated with the thumb or little finger

95
Palmaris longus origin- arises from the medial epicondyle of the humerus by the common flexor tendon and the antebrachial fascia. Insertion- inserts into the anterior aspect of the distal flexor retinaculum and into the palmar aponeurosis action- flexes the hand at the wrist and tightens the palmar aponeurosis innervation- median nerve c6 c7 \* absent in 10 percent of pop. Used for claws.

110
Flexor pollicis longus origin- anterior aspect of the radius and adjacent to interosseous membrane insertion- base of the distal phalanx of the thumb action- flexion of the distal phalanx of the thumb. Can also flex the proximal phalanx because tendon croses the joint. Innervation- anterior interosseous- branch of med.nerve c7, c8 and t1 \* the tendon of this muscle belly crosses the carpal tunnel on the radial side of the digital flexor tendons and passes to the distal phalanx of the thumb- it has its own synovial sheath

120
1. Palmar interosseous muscles- intrinsic muscle origin- 3 palmar interossei arise from the palmar surfaces of the metacarpal bones of digits 2. 4. And 5 insertion- tendons of the palmar interossei insert into the extensor expansions of the digits and bases of the proximal phalanges of digits 2,4, and 5 actions- they adduct the fingers at the MC joint- moving them toward the mid axis. They also flex the proximal phalanx at the MC joint and aids in extension of the 2 distal phalanges at the interphalangeal joints. Innervation- deep branch of the ulnar nerve c8 and t1

122
anterior interosseous nerve
123
median nerve recurrent
124
125
126
Flexor digitorum profundus origin- arises from the proximal 3/4 of the medial and anterior aspects of the ulna and from the interosseous membrane. Insertion- four tendons attach to the bases of the distal phalanges of the medial 4 digits action- flexion of the DIP joints. Also flexes at the PIP and the MC joints and flexes the wrist. Innervation- proximal to the wrist the muscle is innervated by two nerves. The medial part is innervated by the ulnar nerve c8 and t1. The lateral part is innervated by the anterior interosseous nerve AIN- branch of the median nerve v8 and t1 \* the tendons of the fdp cross the carpal tunnel and then the palm of the hand. The 4 tensons pass through the slits of the superficialis tendons then attach to the distal phalanges.
