What are simple post op instructions?
For the rest of the day: no hot/cold food or drink, exercise, smoking, alcohol or mouth rinse
Hot salty mouth rinse over next week every few hours if possible
If it starts to bleed again bite on gauze (or clean tea towel) for 20mins. If that doesn’t work then come back
What is the main difference between upper and lower forceps?
Upper forceps have the beaks in line with the handles
Lower forceps have the beaks angled at 90 degrees from the handles
What is the difference between the beaks of pre molar and anterior forceps?
Anterior blades are slightly narrower so they can grip smaller teeth
How can you differentiate between left and right upper molar forceps??
Make sure you have beak to cheek so the pointed blade engages with the bifurcation of the the 2 buccal roots
Describe lower molar forceps
There is no left and right versions as there is a bifurcation on both sides of the tooth due to the medial and the distal root.
The forceps have a 90degree angled beak with 2 pointed blades to engage in the bifurcation
What is surgicel?

What is vicryl?
A type of resorbable suture
