Conflict is presented between the speaker and nature where nature is eventually shown to be more powerful.
What is the main message Wordsworth is trying to exploit in the poem?
Wordsworth argues nature is, and always will be superior and more powerful than man and his machnines.
What is the key quote and what does it portray?
‘The horizon’s utmost boundary’ - juxtaposition as horizon is beautiful and peacful, being presented as a boundary - as it restricts the boat from progressing, suggesting the inability to escape nature’s grip.
What poem would you link to this poem and give a few similarities?
Storm on the Island, in which both characters from both poems feel under threat, similarly, presenting the power of nature over man. Despite this, they both reflect the beauty of nature aswell. Humanity is made to feel small, insignificant by nature - both characters are alone and feel isolated.
Describe the structure of this poem.
There are no stanzas, and plenty of punctuation - like a story, and exploits the chaos of nature.
