How does nuclear fission produce energy?
Neutrons absorbed by uranium splits into neutrons, protons, and gammas.
What is a simplified primary loop?
Pump circulates through reactor to S/G to cool reactor and heat water in S/G for steam.
What does it mean for the reactor to be shut down?
Rods are inserted but no heat is being produced.

Who is responsible to EOOW?
PPWO
What are the responsibilities of the PPWO?
Overall in charge of plant operations for respective propulsion plant.
Who is the PPWS?
Most senior person in propulsion plant. “XO” to PPWO.
Who is the reactor operator?
Controls power output in RX, control pump speed, and control auxiliary functions of RX support equip.
Who is the log recorder/ phone talker?
Most junior watch stander in EOS. Manages comms in EOS and records temps for vital plant equip
Who is the chief reactor watch?
Most senior mechanic watch stander in RAR. Supervises mechanic watches in RAR.
Who is chief machinery operator?
Most senior mechanic in MMR. Supervises mechanic watch standers in MMR.
Who is the load dispatcher?
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Sade operation of the electric plants.
Who is responsible for the load dispatcher?
Switchgear operators.
