Extra Mechanical Theory Flashcards
1
Q
Rigid bodies
A
Bodies that do not perform any mechanical change when a forced in applied on themselves.
2
Q
Statics in Mechanics
A
Deals with the equilibrium of bodies subjected (sometido) to forces
3
Q
Properties of force
A
- magnitud is the quantitative effect
- direction which includes a line of force
- point of application, on rigid bodies, the point of application of a force doesn’t matter as long as it’s following its line of force
4
Q
Types of forces
A
- Concentrated Force: doesn’t exist really but it implies force at a single point
- volume force: distributed over the volume or portion of it
- Area force: occurs in regions where two bodies are in contact
5
Q
Classification of forces
A
Active forces: physically prescribed forces (attained through mathematical processing) in a mechanical system
Reaction forces: generated if the freedom of movement of a body is constrained. Usually visualized through cutting free or isolation, which means separating the force from its geometrical constraints
