Murray (1984)- African Caribbean parent to blame. Lack of male role models means that mothers struggle to socialise their children properly.

Scruntom (1986)- Low achievement is the result of ehtnic minorities failing to embrace and conform to British culture which is rewarded by schools

Sewell - Many Black-Caribbean boys grow up without a father which means that some are drawn into gangs that emphasis an agress, macho form of masculinity which schools oppose

Moon and Ivinia (2004)- Found that Black- Carbiebean parents had very high parental involvement with their education and saw their progress as their responsibility rather than the schools. A very high proportion went to parents evenings - 82%
