How did water and roads play a major role in Rome’s success and growth?
Rome uses their vast amounts of land to trade with other areas. Rome’ provinces, far away areas that were controlled by Rome, provided materials used to trade. They built roads to connect the empire easily, Milestones along the roads showed travelers. How far they were from different cities in the empire. All roads lead to Rome.
What are the factors that led to the downfall of the Roman Empire?
The Roman Empire got a bit too large for one person to govern, so many empires gave back some of the land they had acquired. 1. Diocletian divided the empire into two regions, east and west. 2. Barbarians (Huns,Goths, etc…) began to attack the edges of the western empire and a lot of land returned to the original owners. 3. The Roman government attempted to raise taxes to build the military up to defend from attacks, but many Roman refused to pay them. 4. The city of Rome was overtaken by a German leader named Odoacer in 476 AD. This marked the end of the Western Roman empire
How was Constantine important in the spread of Christianity?
Roman emperor who initially persecuted Christians. Saw letters Chi and Rho in the sky during battle and believed in God thereafter. He had a change. 313 made Christianity a legal religion. Later it became the official religion of Rome in 392. Pope now in Rome
**Why would leaders in Rome feel threatened by Christianity and Judaism? What did this make them do? Why was there a conflict between different religions in Rome?
They would feel threatened because they are a different religion and they have different things they do which could not follow what the Romans want.
The conflict was that those religions follow one god so they did not listen to the Roman leaders. Because of this they ban Christianity and Judaism.

It devastated them because it caused a lot of ash and rocks to fall down on the city. Which caused many deaths and the city was destroyed and buried in ash. The ash covering the city acted like a time capsule which then let archaeologists to learn about what the city was like and what people did in the city.

He was born in what we now call the year 0. Taught belief in one god & 10 commandments,love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus’ teachings challenged the authority of political and religious leaders. He was believed to have performed miracles, which many thought were proof that he was the son of God. This made people want to become Christian and follow what he does.

Led slave rebellion demanding freedom. Spartacus defeated Roman in Southern Italy. He was killed in battle and the evolt fell apart. Romans executed 6,000 rebellious slaves as an example to others.

They set up 3 branches or parts. Magistrates were officials elected to run different parts of Rome’s government. Consuls- were Rome’s most powerful magistrates They ran the city and the army. There were two so that no one person had too much power.The Senate was a group of wealthy and powerful Romans who advised the leaders of the city. Held their office for life. It had 300 members.
