Not only one person is responsible for the situation, for example, it takes two people (or more) to feel the awkwardness of a situation.

Awkward in the way one handles something. It is a very common expression when someone drops, breaks or spills something and can help defuse (relieve/save) an awkward situation.

A problem was resolved before it became a very big problem.
