Who was John Cabot?
Italian navigator and explorer. 1497 discovery of parts of North America held to have been the first European voyager to travel to the continent of North America since the vikings. Landed on island of Newfoundland.

Discovered the St. Lawrence which led to his main discovery, the Great Lakes.
Why did the French believe Cartier was a failure?
He returned with loads of fools gold.
