What was the research for effects on similarity for interference

A

McGeoch and McDonald
Participants learnt a list of words to 100% accuracy
Then given and new list of words -

Found when recalling the original list those who learnt the synonyms did the worst

Q

What’s a limitation of interference

A

Temporary and can be overcome with cues therefore explanations like retrieval failure may make more sense

Tulving and potska gave lists to remeber. The more lists the worse recall, but when cues given recall j creased rapidly again

Therefore only causes temporary forgetting
