Explanation of CLAD Flashcards
1
Q
Cloud Cover
A
- Extent of the sky covered by clouds
- Clouds reflect sun’s energy
- Clouds absorb heat radiated from earths surface
2
Q
Latitude
A
- High angle of incidence(90 degree) = Concentrated solar energy over a smaller area
- Low latitude = shorter distance from sun
3
Q
Altitude
A
-Temp decreases with an increase in altitude
-Sea level=higher concentration of gases= more heat absorbed=air pressure higher
at higher level= lower concentration of gases= less heat absorbed=air temperature lower
4
Q
Distance From Sea
A
Maritime effect= Cool summers mild winters:
- During summer land heats up quickly but sea remains cool
- Cooler sea brings cooler summer to coat
- During winter sea loses heat slowly thus remains warmer
Continental Effects = Hot summers, Cold Winters
-During summer, land heats up quickly = hot summers
During winter, land loses heat very quickly = cold winters
