Q

What is Density? name its SI Unit and formula.

A

Density can be defined as the amount of mass per unit volume.

Formula - Mass/Volume
SI unit - kg/m3
other units - g/cc, g/m3, etc.

Q

What is direct proportionality?

A

When one variable increases, the other one also increases, with one remaining constant.

For example D and M if V remains constant (D = M/V)

What is inverse proportionality?

A

When one variable increases, the other one decreases.

For example D and V (D = M/V)

Q

What is the water displacement method? Why do we use it?

A

The water displacement method is a method we use to measure the volume of an irregular object, as we cannot determine the length and breadth of an irregular object.

Q

Explain the water displacement method.

A
  1. Measure the mass of the object
  2. Pour enough water in a measuring cylinder to submerge the rock, and measure this volume as V1
  3. tie the rock to a string and submerge it into the cylinder, carefully to ensure no spilling. Measure the new volume as V2
  4. Subtract V1 from V2. The new volume is the volume of the object.
