this kept costs down and increased profits
sugar, cotton, tobbaco and coffee where grown as ‘cash-crops’
specifically too be shipped back to britain and turned into goods that could be sold for a large proffit
the british government benefited from the slave trade as businesses had to pay taxes
that money could then be used to build up other areas of the economy
the british cotton industry domonated the world market
by 1800, britain had trned 56 million tones of cotton into cloth and 42% of all british trade cloth abroad was cotton fabric
slave grown coffee was very popular and coffee shops began too open do more was needed
these where places for socialising and for business and they made alot of money
slave grown sugar was in high demand because many british people had a sweet tooth
it was bought to put in puddings, cakes and jams but also too sweeten goods such as coffee
