A

Method aims to change the way a person handles anger and aggression

Thee key aims identified by Novaco (2011):
* Cognitive restructuring - greater self-awareness and control over cognitive dimensions of anger
* Regulation of arousal - learning to control the physiological state
* Behavioural strategies - problem-solving skills, strategic withdrawal and assertiveness

Explain stress inoculation model…

A

Programmes based on work by Novaco (1975, 1977), where the model aims to provide vaccination against future infections, and is conducted in groups

Three key steps:
* Conceptualisation - clients learn about ho =w anger can be adaptive and non-adpative
* Skill aquisition - clients are taught skills to help manage anger and resolve conflicts without being angry
* Application - clients apply skills in role plays and receive feeback before using them in real world settings
