• measure h from bottom of ball bearing to trapdoor
• flick switch = simultaneously start timer + disconnect electromagnet, releasing ball
• hitting trapdoor = breaks circuit = stops timer
• record timer, repeat 3 times, find avg
• biggest random error = measuring h
