Flea tx in exotics
A
- Occasionally seen in rabbits and less commonly in ferrets
- Tx: Imidaclopride (sometimes combined with other molecules –e.g. Moxidectin)
- DO NOT USE LUFENURON in rabbits or rodents as TOXIC

Flystrike
A
- Common in rabbits mostly during summer months
- Tx: Cyromazine (Rearguard®)
o Licensed in rabbits

Lice/ mites
A
- Occasionally seen in large groups of rodents
- Tx: Ivermectin and similar
- Some circumstances, esp large group animals need to discusss preventative ivermectin

Feather lice
A
- Occasionally seen in some birds kept in groups (e.g. pigeon lofts)
- Permethrin powder/sprays to prevent and manage

Quarantine guidelines
A
o Ideally 2 months quarantine
o Separate facilities and objects
o 2x faecal testing (start and end of quarantine)
o Species specific disease testing
Mostly applied to BIRDS ADN REPTILES
