exocytosis & organelles Flashcards

1
Q

exocytosis

A

refers to the exit of protein
- the secretory gland containing protein fuses with the plasma membrane releasing its contents
- mitochondria provides energy for this process

Q

summarise the role:
1. mitochondria
2. nucleus

A
  1. Converts glucose to ATP which is used in the transport and packaging of protein
  2. nucleus
    - control centre for cells
    - contains genetic information
    - where transcription and RNA processing occur

Q

summarise roles:
5. transport vesicle
6. golgi apparatus

A
  1. transport vesicle
    - delivers proteins to destinations besides the cell membrane
  2. golgi apparatus
    - packages proteins into vesicles

Q

summarise roles:
7. secretory vesicle
8. plasma membrane

A
  1. secretory vesicle
    - exports protein from cells by exocytosis
  2. plasma membrane
    - facilitates in the release of proteins from the cell by exocytosis
