Exercise 4: Mitotic Cell Division Flashcards
Participating cell in mitosis
Somatic cell
This is the period of the preparation of the chromosomes when the nucleus prepares to divide.
Prophase
The scientific name of material that been used in viewing under microscope
Allium cepa (onion)
This phase involves the reconstitution of the nucleus, redistribution of cell organelles and division of the cytoplasm or cytokinesis.
Telophase
involves an equal division of nuclear chromatin in kind and in amount and the formation of two daughter cells exactly having the same kind and the same number of chromosomes.
Indirect cell division or mitosis
Four phases or stages of mitosis
Prophase, mataphase, anaphase, and telophase
The period of orientation of the chromosomes at the equatorial plate or when the chromosomes come to the center of the cell.
Metaphase
Two types of cell division
Direct and indirect cell division
The period is characterized by the separation of the chromatid pairs into daughter chromosomes and their migration toward the poles.
Anaphase
The two significance of mitosis
Reproductive significance (equal distribution of chromosomes to each daughter cells) and;
vegetative significance (process of growth and repair of tissues)
Participating cell in meiosis
Sex cell
two parts that divided cell cycle?
Interphase and mitosis or meiosis
No. Of daughter cells produced in mitosis and meiosis
2 daughter cells
Chromosomes no. Of the daughter cells in mitosis and meiosis
Mitosis - 46 chromosomes
Meiosis - 23 chromosomes
