What is the pathophysiology of diabetes?
A
A disorder of glucose metabolism related to absent or insufficient insulin supply and/or ineffective use of available insulin.

What is the normal body function of insulin?
A
Insulin is secreted from the pancreas allowing glucose into the cells, stopping glucogenesis (glucose creation) in the liver, encourages fat storage in adipose tissue, and increases protein synthesis.
