Executive Branch
The branch of government that carries out/enforces laws
Budget
A plan for making and spending money
Allocate
To set apart or designate for a special purpose; to distribute
Initiative
The procedure whereby a certain number of voters may, by petition, propose a law or constitutional amendment and have it submitted to the voters.
Proposal
A plan or suggestion put forward for consideration or discussion by others
FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency)
The Federal Emergency Management Agency; an agency focused on responding to natural and other disasters
CDC
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Cabinet
A group of advisers to the president.
Opioid Crisis
Current drug crisis caused by the overprescription of painkillers and heroin that is plaguing the nation.
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
Gives services for Americans’ health and basic needs
Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
Federal agency responsible for preventing terrorist attacks within the United States, reducing America’s vulnerability to terrorism, and minimizing the damage and assisting in recovery from attacks that do occur.
Department of Interior (DOI)
This department manages and protects the nation’s public lands and natural resources.
Department of Agriculture (USDA)
Cabinet department responsible for implementing and enforcing federal laws concerning farming, agriculture and food; responsible for meat inspection and safety. poultry and egg safety, and farmer subsidies
Department of Commerce (DOC)
Supervises trade, promotes U.S. business, tourism
Department of Defense (DOD)
This department provides the military that defends our country. It includes the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
