the executive
one of the three branches of government, alongside the legislature and judiciary. It is centred around the Prime Minister and Cabinet and has overall responsibility for the governance of the nation. It is often referred to as the government.
main roles of the executive?
> control and manage law enforcement, military, and security services.
Conducting foreign policy, including relations with other states and international bodies
Managing the finances of the nation, inc the collection of taxes and setting the budget
Developing new policy initiatives
Drafting and securing the passage of new legislation through Parliament, then implementing it
Organising and managing public sector services, like the NHS and schools
Responding to major crises, such as security threats, natural disasters, social disorder and economic difficulties
Organising the defence of the country from external & internal threats
