Kidney functions.
To remove waste products and excess fluid from the body.

Nephron functions.
The nephron is the tiny filtering structure in your kidneys. Each of your kidneys contain more that a million tin filtering nephrons that help clean your blood.
Renal Artery - renal vein - Bowman’s capsule - glomerulus - distal tubule - proximal tubule - loop of Henley - capillaries - collection duct.
Filtration
The blood is filtered by nephrons, the functional units of the kidneys. Cells, proteins, and other large molecules are filtered out of the glomerulus by a process of ultrafiltration.
Reabsorption
Is the process by which the nephron removes water and solutes from the tubular fluid (pre-urine) and returns them to the circulation blood.
Secretion
A process by. Which substances are produced and discharged from a cell, gland, or organ for a particular function in the organism.
The Urinary Tract
The kidneys filter about 120 to 150 quarts of blood to produce around the clock. Ureters are the thin tubes, one on each side of the bladder - that carry urine from each of the kidneys to the bladder. The bladder expands as it fills with urine. This will fill until the person empties. A normal bladder acts like a reservoir and can hold 1.5 to 2 cups of urine.
Urine formation
There are three main steps of urine formation: glomerular filtration, reabsorption, and secretion. These processes ensure that only waste and excess water are removed from the body.
