excretion Flashcards
what is excretion
excretion is the removal of toxic material such as the waster product of metabolism
what are the organs in the excretory system and what are their waste products
lungs - co2
kidney- urine
skin-sweat (salt and water)
liver- urea
bladder-stores urine
what happens during day time
rate of photosynthesis is higher
more oxygen is released
less carbon dioxide is created
what happens during the night time
no co2 is released
there is no photosynthesis or respiration
how is blood transported in the urinary system
through the renal artery which is then filtered by the kidney
what is selective reabsorption
where substances such as glucose are reabsorbed back into the blood, via the active transport which requires energy from respiration
what is osmoregulation
when the body regulates the amount of water to prevent the cells from gaining or loosing too much water.
why do leaves have different leavel of excretory products
because the photosynthesis level vary which changes the concentration of oxygen levels
