disease and immunity Flashcards
what is pathogen and what examples are there
a bacterium, virus, or other microorganism that can cause disease.
they can be in the variations of fungi, bacteria, viruses and Protoctist
what features of the human body stop pathogens from entering the body
the stomach acid, mucus and cilia but mainly the skin prevent pathogens from entering the body

it releases white blood cells and phagocytes which engulf the pathogens and digest them using enzymes.
what is a vaccination and what do they do
a vaccination is a dead or inactive pathogen which is sent into your body so that your white blood cells can remember the pathogens genetic code so it can activate your immune system before a virus or disease affects you
