Why 1(Point and evidence and analyse)
P: A key goal of the EEC/EU is European peace through an ever closer union between the peoples of Europe. as a result, the eu has widened and deepened levels of intergration between its member states
Evidence: seen in 1986 Spain and Portugal membership in which it is comprised of the treaty of the single European act which extended the free market in goods to services, capital and people.
Analyse: This demonstrates that the EEC/EU has deepened and expanded its membership so that others can trade more freely with each other without restrictions
Why 1 (extent of widening and deepening)
The extent of its widening and deepening is varies as the Maascastricht treaty (1992) established the principle of subsidarity, whereby the EU should make decisions only if they are not better taken by nation states.
This protects state sovereignty, weakening the ECC/EU of being a union

Point: the eec has deepened and widened since its establishment in 1957 because it is developing towards and economic and monetary union, through coordinating the economic, fiscal and monetary policies of its member states
Evidence: seen in 2019, when 19 members of the EU had developed complete economic and monetary union.
