What is microdermabrasion?
Physical exfoliant.
Especially good for clients who are not good candidates for chemical peels.
What are the benefits of microdermabrasion?
reduced pigmented lesions, superficial acne scars, rhytids.

How do you control depth of penetration during microderm?
strength of vaccum, number of passes, speed of passes, pressure by estie
What can be side effects of microderm?
pinpoint bleeding, redness, infection, hyperpigmentation
Contraindications to microderm?
rosacea?
extensive couperosity?
What kind of skin would especially benefit from microderm?
strong, oily, thick, extreme sun exposure
How do you consult a client on how to prepare for their microderm appointment?
Make sure they stop using their AHA, BHA, scrubs and retinoic acid 2-3 days before and after a microdermabrasion treatment.
Chemical peel. How many days prior to performing a chemical peel do you have your client stop AHA, retinol and scrubs?
1-2 days before and 3-5 days after
Enzyme peels, which is the most gentle?
papaya which is most often used on sensitive skin
Ultrasonic treatments: who are these helpful for?
People with thin delicate skin. Ultrasonic is gentler than microdermabrasion.
What does ultrasonic do?
Ultra sonic can exfoliate and hydrate. You can use it to help product penetration. (I don’t really understand)
