In 1453 AD, the Ottoman Empire took over the Byzantine Empire. The death of Constantine XI was the end point of the battle.
The Ottomans used ships and people on land to fight which gave them the upper hand because they had more man power and force behind them.
This event was considered a huge blow to Christianity because the Ottomans took over with their different religions.

The Byzantine Empire, once they decided they’d had enough with the amount they were paying for silk from the Ming Dynasty, sent some people to steal silk from there instead.
Then the fall of Constantinople occurred and the Ottoman Empire closed down the silk road completely.
Using the Silk Road was very dangerous due to the risks of diseases and getting robbed while travelling along it.
