What are the elements of design?
Line, colour, space, form, shape, value, texture.
What is the difference between form and shape?
Form is a 3D object
Shape is when it is 2D and flat
What is the difference between geometric and organic shapes?
Geometric- mathematical and can be calculated
Organic- natural shapes that are in the world (ex. Tree)
What are the two types of texture?
Stimulated- looks like it feels like something
Actual- can actually feel
What is the difference between contour and cross contour lines?
Contour- outline of a shape
Cross contour- object shows form through curves and edges
What is monochromatic?
One colour + tints and shades
What are analogous colours?
3-5 colours beside each other on the colour wheel.
What are complementary colours?
Opposite colours
Define chromatic grey.
Darkening a colour by adding the complementary colour NOT black
What is a tint and a shade?
Tint- mixed with white
Shade- mixed with black
What are the principles of design?
Movement and rhythm, repetition, balance, unity, contrast, emphasis, pattern, proportion.
What is the difference between elements and principles of design?
Elements are the basic thing that are used to create art and show principles
