Q

Explain how we have seasons on earth.

A

The earth’s spin axis is tilted with respect to its orbital plane. This is what causes the seasons. When the earth’s axis points towards the sun, it is summer for that hemisphere. When the earth’s axis points away, winter can be expected.

Q

What is the Thermosphere?

A

Located between about 80 and 700 kilometers above Earth’s surface. Also known as upper atmosphere. The gases in this sphere are extremely thin. But they still become denser as you descend towards earth. The high energy of ultraviolet and x-ray radiation from the sun are absorbed by molecules in this layer and causing a significant temperature increase. The sphere is cloud-free and water vapor free.

A

Climate is when you look at the overall picture of the weather and the average over a long period of time, and weather is the current temperature at that current time.

44
Q

Explain how we have seasons on earth

A

The earth is tilted on an axis. This means that one hemisphere of the earth gets more sunlight and direct sun rays during one time of the year. This is because when the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, the sun rays travel a shorter distance, causing the northern hemisphere to have summer.

45
Q

What is a isthmus

A

a narrow strip of land that connects two larger landmasses and separates two bodies of water

46
Q

What is a peninsula

A

A peninsula is a piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water.
