a. Larger body than Atlas or Axis
b. More prominent spinous process
c. Spinous process often bifid (Forked)
Lumbar Vertebrae

1) Spinous processes short & squared off
2) No rib facets
Thoracic vertebrae
•List features
1) Long, Skinny, spinous process
2) Thick Transverse processes
3) Rib facets on vertebral body & on transverse processes
Determining sex from the pelvic
Male:
•Overall size is Larger
• Narrower arch angle
• Ventral Arc is Absent
Female:
• Overall size is Smaller
• Wider arch angle
• Ventral Arc is present
